Unbound Close Stellar Encounters in the Solar Neighborhood

چکیده

We present a catalog of unbound stellar pairs, within 100 pc the Sun, that are undergoing close, hyperbolic, encounters. The data drawn from GAIA EDR3 catalogue, and limiting factors errors in radial distance unknown velocities along line sight. Such pairs have been suggested (Hansen & Zuckerman 2021) to be possible events associated with migration technological civilisations between stars. As such, this sample may represent finite set targets for SETI search based on hypothesis. Our contains total 132 close passage events, featuring stars across entire main sequence, 16 at least one sequence star spectral type K1 F3. Many these also binaries, so we isolate eight single as most likely candidates an ongoing event -- HD 87978, 92577, 50669, 44006, 80790, LSPM J2126+5338, J0646+1829 192486. Amongst host known planets, GJ 433 HR 858 best candidates.

0 Stellar Pollution in the Solar Neighborhood

We study spectroscopically determined iron abundances of 642 solar-type stars to search for the signature of accreted iron-rich material. We find that the metallicity [Fe/H] of a subset of 466 main sequence stars, when plotted as a function of stellar mass, mimics the pattern seen in lithium abundances in open clusters. Using Monte Carlo models we find that, on average, these stars have accrete...

Stellar orbit evolution in close circumstellar disc encounters

The formation and early evolution of circumstellar discs often occurs within dense, newborn stellar clusters. For the first time, we apply the moving-mesh code AREPO, to circumstellar discs in 3D, focusing on disc–disc interactions that result from stellar flybys. Although a small fraction of stars are expected to undergo close approaches, the outcomes of the most violent encounters might leave...

Radio Observations of Algol . II . Computation of Close Stellar Encounters

We present here new astrometric measurements of Algol's position made with Very Long Baseline Interferometry. Using these measurements, along with a new estimate of the node of the inner binary and other orbital elements from the literature, we compute a new proper motion, with uncertainties six times less than those of Hipparcos. We compute the trajectories of Algol (using the new proper motio...

Stellar Kinematics of the Spiral Structure in the Solar Neighborhood

We present a method, based on the kinematic analysis of the Galactic disk stars, to clarify whether the internal motions of the stellar system in spiral arms follow those expected in the density wave theory. The method relies on the comparison with the linear relation between the phases of spatial positions and epicyclic motions of stars, as drawn from the theory. The application of the method ...

Searching for stellar mass black holes in the solar neighborhood

We propose a strategy for searching for isolated stellar mass black holes in the solar neighborhood with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Due to spherical accretion of the inter-stellar medium and the ambient magnetic field, an isolated black hole is expected to emit a blended, thermal synchrotron spectrum with a roughly flat peak from the optical down to the far infra-red. We find that the Sloan ...
